Three films have been shortlisted as hopefuls to rep Iran at Oscars 2019.
As per the PR department of Farabi Cinema Foundation, the selection committee of Iran entry at the Oscars 2019 tapped Vahid Jalilvand’s ‘No Date, No Signature’, ‘The Lost Strait’ by Bahram Tavakoli and ‘No. 17 Soheila’ by Mahmoud Ghaffari as the hopefuls.
The short listed items were screened out of 110 titles, local media quoted the spokesperson in the board meeting.
Ghaffari's ‘No. 17 Soheila’ has won the top prize at 13th International Oriental Film Festival of Geneva, Switzerland.
On the International scale, 'No Date, No Signature' had a Venice fest bow and was much applauded.
‘The Lost Strait’ by Tavakoli has been acclaimed and awarded at latest edition of Fajr Film Festival held in Iran. The flick is currently on the silver screen with a top standing at Iran box-office.
With such great background, all three films have a legitimate chance to rep Iran at the latest edition of Oscars to be held next year.
