Iranian animation 'Mr. Deer' is to vie at the Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival in France.
Directed by Mojtaba Mousavi, the short animated piece was accepted into the screening program of the French event.
The 9-minute animation is set in an unknown time, in a ruined subway station which is similar to those in modern European societies. People in this society have animal faces and have forgotten humane values.
‘Mr. Deer’ has gone on screen at a number of international film events, including the 2018 Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, the 26th Anima Mundi Film Festival in Brazil, the 48th Giffoni Film Festival in Italy, and the 2018 Melbourne International Film Festival in Australia.
It was awarded at the international competition section of the 36th Fajr International Film Festival in Iran and received Special Award of the 28th Zagreb Animation Festival (Animafest) in Croatia.
The Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival is a major French platform for fantastic cinema, and one of Europe’s most comprehensive genre events.
The Festival’s main focus is on new productions of international fantastic films, but also included, are sections for thrillers, noir films and black comedies.
The festival is slated for September 14-23, 2018.
