‘Roma’, a film by Alfonso Quaron, on a streak of wins has grabbed award from the 2019 DGA.
The multi award-winning film could once more achieve a prestigious award by winning big at the 71st edition of the Directors Guild of America. Quaron took home Directing Feature film trophy.
This win along with the Golden Globe awards and the rest of 30 critic’s awards have simply raised the bars for the film at this year's edition of the Academy Awards. This could be the second Oscar for the Mexican director after his successful feature ‘Gravity’.
Besides being at the helm of the movie, Alfonso Quaron has written and has cinematographed the movie.
It is said that ‘Roma’ is a semi-autobiographical that narrates the director’s upbringing in Mexico City. The film also follows the lives of a big house residents in Colonia Roma neighborhood. It shows how their lives are tied together by the miseries- all the heartbreaks and betrayals- they must go through.
The Directors Guild of America Award announced the winners during a ceremony that was held on February 2nd, 2019.
