The 15th edition of the Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland has set to screen two features from Iran.
‘Son-Mother’ by Mahnaz Mohammadi and ‘6.5 per Meter’ by Saeed Roustaee have made it into the competition program of the Swiss event.
“Samad is nobody’s fool. The narcotics officer has seen his share of a drug dealer’s lies and games, and his patience has come to run thin. While searching for the infamous drug baron Nasser Khakzad, he and his colleague Hamid scour the streets of Tehran, turning an overcrowded prison on its head...Director Saeed Roustaee landed a huge Iranian box office hit with his second directorial work. This great action thriller is far more than just a fast-paced, skillfully staged cat-and-mouse game,” the festival’s website praised the 135-minute ‘Just 6.5’ which is the title for ‘6.5 per Meter’ in the Swiss event.
Payman Maadi, Navid Mohammadzadeh, Parinaz Izadyar, Houman Kiaee, Farhad Aslani, Marjan Qamari, and Mohammad Ali Mohammadi are on the film’s cast list.
“Leila does not really have a choice. Ever since her husband died, she had to take care of her 12-year-old son Amir and his little sister on her own, and provide ... income without support. In addition, the Iranian economy, her free spirit, and the daily gossip could make her lose her factory job at any time. When the lovable, widowed bus driver Kazem proposes to her, she and her son are faced with making a serious decision – because this new marriage is tied to an impossible condition,” the festival’s website wrote about the 102-minute ‘Son-Mother’.
Those starring in the flick include Raha Khodayari, Mahan Nasiri, Reza Behboudi and Shiva Ordouee.
The 15th edition of the Zurich Film Festival is slated for September 26-October 6, 2019.
