Abyar dedicates award to Iranian people

Narges Abyar dedicates her latest award to the Iranian people.

Narges Abyar, director of the award-winning film ‘When the Moon Was Full’, has dedicated the film’s most recent award to the people of Iran.

The drama was recently screened at the 23rd Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia, winning the event’s Audience Award, last Saturday.

In her acceptance speech, Abyar dedicated the award to her people, saying that the award came from the people and the audience.

The award-winning director also said that she had good memories from her previous presence at the festival three years ago, where she won Best Director for her feature ‘Breath’.

‘When the Moon Was Full’ depicts the story of a woman from the city of Tehran who marries a man from a far away province near the border of Pakistan. Shortly after, she realizes that her brother in law is a religious extremist trying to recruit her husband for his evil cause.

Starring in the film are Elnaz Shakerdoust, Houtan Shakiba, Shabnam Moqaddami, and Fereshteh Sadr-Orafaee.

Abyar’s flick premiered at the 37th annual Fajr Film Festival in February where it received the event’s Best Film and Best Director awards.

Elnaz Shakerdoust and Houtan Shakiba were also awarded Best Actress and Best Actor respectively for their performances at the festival.
