The 8th Ammar Popular Film Festival in the Iranian capital city of Tehran has come to an end.
The closing ceremony of the folk festival was held at the Bahman Cultural Center in Tehran on Friday, January 5.
Results of electors were revealed in the presence of several prominent Iranian and international cineastes.
Prizes were awarded for submissions in various categories, including the “Defenders of Holy Shrine”, “Documentary”, “Animation”, “Television Programs”, “Video Clip”, “Film Poster”, “Advertising”, “Radio Productions”, “Cinema Criticism” and “Articles” sections, among others.
The Ammar Popular Film Festival goes against the promotion of “individualism and extreme enjoyment without caring about the society's troubles and other human suppression,” the event’s official website noted.
The festival also enjoys an international version (AIPFF) which aims “to raise real awareness and responsibility among the general public,” the AIPFF website read, adding, "the event’s mission is to create an atmosphere in which independent filmmakers and thinkers can gather together."
The 8th edition of the festival was held from December 27, 2017, to January 5, 2018, in Tehran.
