Rafei, Abbas (born December 9, 1962, Shiraz)
Abbas Rafei studied screen writing at IRIB College, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. Later, he earned a Master’s Degree in Dramatic Literature at the Islamic Azad University.
His first movie was the 1996 ‘Mina’s Secret’. He has directed several movies and attended different film festivals around the world.
He’s been the director, writer and producer of ‘Butterfly in the Wind’ (2003), ‘The Sun Shines the Same on Everyone’ (2006), ‘Born Again’ (2007) and ‘Gold and Earth’ (2008).
Some of the films he has directed so far are ‘The Freeway’ (2010), ‘Crime and Punishment’ (2011) and ‘Oblivion Season’ (2013).
Rafei’s movie ‘Butterfly in the Wind’ (2003) won the Best Script Award at the 8th Avanca Film Festival, Portugal.
His film ‘Oblivion Season’ has also won the Best Film award at the Universal International Film Festival in America, the best film award from a New York film festival, best film award at a Romanian film festival, main awards for best film, best directing, best actress in a leading role and best script from a New Jersey international film festival and best film award from a Harat film festival.
