The first edition of the Iranian Film Festival New York is to kick off with Iranian screening productions in lineup.
A total of 11 Iranian feature films will be screened at the event following by Q&A and reviewing sessions.
The festival’s opening night will be the NY premiere of Bahman Farmanara’s ‘Tale of the Sea’.
Other productions to go on screen include ‘Take Me Home’ and ‘The Report’ by Abbas Kiarostami, ‘76 Minutes and 15 Seconds with Abbas Kiarostami’ by Seyfollah Samadian, ‘I Like to’, ‘Tale of the Sea” and ‘Tall Shadows of the Wind’ by Bahman Farmanara, ‘The Home’ by Asghar Yousefinejad, Berlinale hit ‘Pig’ by Mani Haqiqi, ‘Sly’ by Kamal Tabrizi, ‘Hendi & Hormoz’ by Abbas Amini and ‘Sheeple’ by Houman Seyyedi.
The festival closes with the North American premiere of Houman Seyyedi’s award-winning ‘Sheeple’; a thrilling action film about criminal gangs, featuring rising star Navid Mohammadzadeh.
“The festival aims to unite two strands of Iranian moviemaking – the classic art-house Iranian cinema beloved by cinephiles around the world, and new cutting-edge works that showcase the adventurousness and daring nature of younger Iranian directors,” noted by the festival’s official website.
The first annual event will be held January 10-15, 2019 in New York.
