The 2019 edition of the San Francisco Iranian Film Festival (IFF) in the US has awarded ‘Once Upon a Time’ animation.
Directed by Mahin Javaherian, the 12-minute animated piece won the best animation award at the US event.
‘Once Upon a Time’ is a musical animation about a mother who teaches the ways of life to her daughter in the form of Persian folklore songs.
Iran’s ‘The Sixth String’ directed by Bahram Azimi and ‘One Person’ directed by Mahboubeh Kalaee have also been at the animation section of the San Francisco Iranian Film Festival.
The IFF San Francisco is an annual event showcasing independent feature and short films made by or about Iranians from around the world.
Launched in 2008, it is the first independent Iranian film festival outside Iran.
The 12th Annual IFF San Francisco, dedicated to the best and newest Iranian film productions, screened 50 films from Iran, the US, France, Switzerland, the UK, Canada, Ukraine, Hungary, and India.
The event was held on September 28-29, 2019.
