Iran film ‘Son-Mother’ is currently in the running at the 14th edition of the Rome Film Festival.
Directed by Mahnaz Mohammadi, ‘Son-Mother’ is representing Iran in the competition section of the Italian film event titled ‘Alice in Town’.
Mohammadi’s feature debut is running with titles from Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Britain, Switzerland and Germany.
‘Son-Mother’ is about a young widow who is faced with the difficult choice to either abandon her son or succumb to endless poverty and social degradation.
The 102-min film was previously screened at the 15th Zurich Film Festival a well as the 44th Toronto International Film Festival.
The Rome Film Fest, which features children-related works, was established in February 2007 to promote cinema at a local, national and international level.
It hosts a large and challenging program of screenings, master classes, tributes, retrospectives, panels, and special events.
The event kicked off on October 17th and will run until October 27th, 2019 at the Auditorium Parco della Musica and in other venues throughout the city of Rome.
