Fajr Theater Festival to pay homage to Soleimani

Iran’s Fajr Int'l Theater Festival is to commemorate Iranian commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

Iran’s Fajr International Theater Festival is set to commemorate the Iranian commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani during its upcoming edition.

An official at the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance said on Tuesday Lieutenant General Soleimani will be commemorated during the opening and closing ceremonies of the 38th edition of Fajr International Theater Festival.

Shahram Karami added that theater artists will perform street theater in Tehran and other Iranian cities under the theme of “Lieutenant General Soleimani” until the 40th day of the mourning period to pay tribute to the top commander and to denounce his assassination.

Lt. Gen. Soleimani, who was the commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), was assassinated along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), as well as eight other people in a US drone strike at Baghdad’s international airport early on Friday.

The 38th Fajr International Theater Festival will take place in Tehran on January 30-February 9, 2020.
