Oscar-winning NBA player Kobe Bryant dies at 41 in a helicopter crash, striking Hollywood with great shock.
The sports icon playing for the Los Angeles Lakers and often compared to Michael Jordan, died Sunday in a helicopter crash.
Bryant’s 13-year-old daughter was among the deceased.
He won an Oscar in 2018 for the short film, “Dear Basketball,” directed by Glen Keane. Spike Lee’s 2009 'Kobe Doin’ Work' is also a doc on the life of Kobe.
Chairman and CEO The Walt Disney Company, Robert Iger, was among many Hollywood affiliates reacting to his death.
"Our company ... mourns the tragic loss of kobebryant...one of the most respected & popular athletes of our time...a friend and a fan of ours, full of life and taken from us too soon," Iger wrote.
