Bollywood 'Oscars' ceremony has been postponed due to mounting fears of COVID-19.
The organizers confirmed that International Indian Film Academy Awards 2020, known as Bollywood’s Oscars, was cancelled due to Coronavirus outbreak fears.
“With due regard to the growing concerns around the spread of COVID-19 virus and keeping the health and safety of IIFA’s fans and the general community at large, after consulting the Madhya Pradesh Government, the IIFA management and stakeholders from the film industry, it has been decided to postpone to later date the much-awaited weekend and awards 2020 celebrations,” said IIFA organizers in a Friday statement
The ceremony is the latest in a series of events cancelled or postponed due to fears for the virus. Cannes fest, however, has not canceled the upcoming edition while maintaining a business-as-usual approach.
