Tom Hanks, wife infected with coronavirus

Hollywood actor Tom Hanks and his wife test positive for coronavirus.

Hollywood actor Tom Hanks has announced that he and his wife, Rita Wilson, have tested positive for the new coronavirus in Australia, becoming the highest-profile celebrities to be infected with the virus.

“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive,” the two-time Oscar winner wrote on his social media page on Wednesday.

He added that they would be “isolated for as long as public health and safety requires” and that he would update people about their health condition.

“Take care of yourselves!” Hanks concluded his statement.

The couple, both 63 years old, was in Australia while he works on a new movie. They have been married since 1988.

The flu-like deadly virus originated in China in late 2019 and later spread to more than 100 other countries.

Earlier on Wednesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the virus a global pandemic.
