Iran’s International Radio Festival to open in summer

Iran’s International Radio Festival postpons its 15th edition until next summer.

Iran’s International Radio Festival has postponed its 15th edition until next summer.

Mojtaba Izadi, the secretary of the 15th International Radio Festival, said this year’s edition of the event has attracted hundreds of works from Iran and other countries, Iranian media outlets reported Tuesday.

He noted that 74 works from 15 counties have applied to take part in the international section of the festival by the deadline for submission.

Spain, Serbia, India, Kenya, Iraq, Poland, Cuba, Bangladesh and Malaysia are among the countries whose radio program directors have applied to attend the festival.

Izadi noted that the works are being judged and the winners will honored during the closing ceremony next summer.

The 15th edition of the festival, which was scheduled to open this April, will kick off next summer instead due to the coronavirus crisis.

The flu-like deadly virus originated in China in late 2019 and later spread to many other countries.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the virus a global pandemic.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases across the globe now stands at 1,347,803, and a total of 74,807 people have died from the virus, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University.
