Theatrical release should be replaced by on-demand streaming in Iranian cinema industry, the High Council of Iranian Cinema Producers announces.
The High Council of Iranian Cinema Producers issued a statement, highlighting the necessity for using VoD streaming services to screen new movies amid the coronavirus outbreak in Iran.
The statement read, “In the present situation, Iran cinema has no other choice than going online due to the imposed coronavirus,” adding, “The movie is a civilized turn and can be implemented easily with Iran’s internet infrastructure.
The guild also praised online screening of Iranian feature film ‘Exodus’ (Exit), adding stratified online cinema will see a boom in the near future.
Over the COVID-19 pandemic, the flick did not get a theatrical release as it was scheduled during the Persian New Year holidays. Instead, it is available on-demand as of Sunday April 12.
‘Exodus’ got its premiere at the 38th Fajr Film Festival last year and grabbed two awards for the best makeup and the best visual effects.
