Iranian ‘Funfair’ wins at the US fest

The Palm Springs Int’l ShortFest in the US honors Iranian short ‘Funfair’.

Iranian short title ‘Funfair’ has grabbed an honorary diploma of Best Short Film at the Palm Springs International ShortFest in the US.

Directed by Kaveh Mazaheri, the 15-minute flick narrates the story of a young married couple and their 5-year-old kid.

The three of them are grabbling with financial issues that the father of the family has brought upon them.

A brief synopsis for the short reads, “Majid, a financially struggling man, comes up with a ploy in order to better the life of his wife, Sara”.

The special mention at the Winchester Film Festival in the UK, the Best Screenplay Award at the Scene film festival as well as the Non-European Dramatic Short Award at the European Independent Film Festival in France and the Best International Short Film at the Foyle Film Festival in the UK are among the other successes gained by ‘Funfair’.

The Oscar-qualifying Palm Springs International ShortFest aims to stay the medium that keeps film markets, filmmakers and viewers connected.

The event was held on June 16-22, 2020.
