Hafez Awards to go online over virus cancellations

Hafez Awards is to go online over pandemic.

With the coronavirus pandemic necessitating the postponement or cancellation of large events across the globe, Iran’s Hafez Awards is also slated be held online this year.

As coronavirus pandemic has seen film festivals turning virtual to show their offerings, Hafez Awards, an Iranian first and only private awards in the film industry and TV productions will hold its 20th edition online.

According to the director of the celebration, Omid Moallem, there are going to be some changes in the nominations and the awards, which will be announced later.

The Hafez Awards is an annual awarding ceremony which is held to honor cinematic achievements in Iranian cinema.

The awards, first presented in 1997, are presented by the Persian cinematic monthly Donya-ye Tasvir (Picture World Magazine).
