2020 Cine Invisible festival in Spain is to host Iranian short film ‘Driving Lessons’.

Iranian short film ‘Driving Lessons’ has been selected to compete at the 2020 edition of the Cine Invisible (Festival International Film Sozialak 2020 Bilbao) in Spain.

‘Driving Lessons’, written and directed by Marzieh Riahi, is about Bahareh who has a driving test to pass. She has to have her traditional chauvinistic husband accompany her during driving lessons so that she and her instructor are not alone together.

Film’s cast members include Linda Kiani, Alireza Sanifar, Salar Khamseh, and Sanaz Mesbah.

The short has previously competed at more than 60 global events, including the Tampere Film Festival in Finland, the Cartagena Film Festival in Colombia, the Tribeca Film Festival in the US, and the Edmonton International Film Festival in Canada.

‘Driving Lessons’ also grabbed more than 10 international awards, some of which are the Best Short Narrative award at the Through Women’s Eyes International Film Festival in the US, the Best Long Narrative award at the Annual Big Muddy Film Festival in the US and the jury’s special award at the Film Festival for Women's Rights in South Korea.

The Cine Invisible festival centers on four main themes including sustainable development, human rights, interculturality and gender equity.

The 12th edition of the event will be held on August 20-22.
