Hadi Hejazifar behind on-screen transformation

Iranian actor Hadi Hejazifar is unrecognizable in a photo of the character he is currently playing in a new series.

Makeup plays an important role in convincing the audience that the character which is played is real, and it even enhances the performance of the actors and enables them to disappear into the character. That was clearly shown in a new photo of Hadi Hejazifar.

Iranian actor Hadi Hejazifar is unrecognizable in a photo which was circulated by media this week, showing the character he is currently playing in a new series.

Hejazifar will play the role of real-life Martyr Mehdi Bakeri, who lost his life during the Sacred Defense against the foreign-backed forces of Iraq’s former dictator Saddam Hussein in the 1980s, in a seven-episode series directed by Hejazifar himself.

The production of the series ‘Martyr Bakeri’ kicked off in coincidence with the “Sacred Defense” week, an annual event to commemorate the anniversary of the start of Iraq’s imposed war on Iran.

Iraq invaded Iran on September 22, 1980. The war, which began 19 months after the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, lasted almost eight years and ended on August 20, 1988.

It is commemorated in Iran every year as the eight years of Sacred Defense.

Hejazifar, 44, made his film debut in 2004 with Rasoul Mollaqolipour’s ‘Father Field’.

He gained a nationwide fame after the movie 'Standing in the Dust', which brought him a nomination for the Best Actor in a Leading Role at the 18th Iran Cinema Celebration in 2016.
