Iranian ‘Takhti, the World Champion’ to go on screen in Barcelona

Iranian ‘Takhti, the World Champion’ is to go on screen at the 2020 Asian Film Festival Barcelona in Spain.

Iranian movie ‘Takhti, the World Champion’ has been selected to go on screen at the 2020 Asian Film Festival Barcelona (AFFBCN) in Spain.

The movie will go on screen at the Official Panorama section of the Spanish event.

Directed by Bahram Tavakkoli and produced by Saeed Malekan, the film depicts the life of Iranian world wrestling champion Gholam-Reza Takhti.

The biographical film depicts the Iranian world champion’s life from cradle to grave.

The project is shot in three phases to show the hero’s childhood, teenagehood and adulthood.

On the cast list are Atila Pesyani, Mahour Alvand, Hamid-Reza Azarang, Banipal Shoumoun, Parivash Nazariyeh, Behnoush Tabatabaee, Farhad Ayish, Siavash Tahmoures, Masoumeh Qasemipour, Setareh Pesyani, Alireza Goudarzi, and Shirin Yazdanbakhsh.

Tavakkoli’s film had its premiere as a contender at the 37th Fajr Film Festival in Iran. The film got 11 nominations at the event and won two Crystal Simorgh awards in the categories of Best Cinematography and Best Set Design.

The upcoming edition of the AFFBCN includes meetings, conferences and seminars. The festival will host works from more than 25 countries.

The 2020 edition of the Barcelona festival is slated for October 28-November 8.
