Iranian-Afghan ‘Elephantbird’ grabs award at the BINISAYA Film Festival in the Philippines.

Iranian-Afghan short flick ‘Elephantbird’ has been awarded at the BINISAYA Film Festival in the Philippines.

The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that ‘Elephantbird’, directed by Amir-Masoud Soheili, received the Special Jury Prize at the 9th edition of the event.

The film is about an old Afghan man who wishes to give his elephant-bird (turkey) to his grandchild, but this simple wish is hard to realize.

‘Elephantbird’ attended several international festivals, including the 23rd AVANCA - International Meeting of Cinema, TV, Video and Multimedia in Portugal, the 14th Batumi International Art-House Film Festival in Georgia, and the Sedicicorto International Film Festival in Italy.

The film was named as one of the winning short films (under 20 minutes) at the 5th R.E.D. International Film Festival of Norway.

The 9th edition of the BINISAYA Film Festival took place on October 14-17.
