Iranian short film wins in the US

Iranian short film ‘Fireworks Wednesday’ wins at the 2020 Victoria TX Independent Filmfest in the US.

Iranian short film ‘Fireworks Wednesday’ has garnered the Best Foreign Short award at the ninth edition of the Victoria TX Independent Film Festival in the US.

Directed by Reza Mouri, the short film narrates the story of some teenage boys in conflict. One of the teenagers threatens to burn his friend’s house and faces challenges to prevent the incident.

The cast of the short film includes Amirreza Faramarzi, Younes Molaee, Anahita Salehian, Sogol Abbasi and Shokoufeh Taqi-Rahdar.

According to Victoria TX official website “it is as much about the magic that happens when artists of all kinds bond, influence one another and share community as it is about film. Each year visiting filmmakers not only screened their own films, they collaborated on new films, have started their own festivals or returned to Victoria to shoot their next film!”

The festival was held online from October 22 to November 1, 2020.
