Iranian ‘Funfair’ to compete at Spanish fest

Iranian ‘Funfair’ is to compete at the 2020 La Mirada Tabu filmfest in Spain.

The seventh edition of the Mirada Tabu film festival in Spain has set to present Iranian short flick ‘Funfair’.

Directed by Kaveh Mazaheri, the 15-minute film narrates the story of a young married couple and their 5-year-old kid.

The three of them are grabbling with financial issues that the father of the family has brought upon them.

A brief synopsis for the short reads, “Majid, a financially struggling man, comes up with a ploy in order to better the life of his wife, Sara”.

The special mention at the Winchester Film Festival in the UK, the Best Screenplay Award at the Scene film festival, the Non-European Dramatic Short Award at the European Independent Film Festival in France, and the Best International Short Film at the Foyle Film Festival in the UK are among the successes gained by ‘Funfair’.

A lineup of 25 films from 900 submitted works is selected to compete at the Mirada Tabu film festival.

The festival hosts international works from France, Belgium, Italy, Australia, Austria, Cuba, Iran, Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Chile, China, Canada, Portugal, Mexico, the UK, the US, Russia, and Spain.

The 2020 edition of the event is slated for December 9-19.
