Cinema Museum of Iran has released a video on the occasion of great Iranian director Dariush Mehrjouee’s birth anniversary.
In part of the video, Iranian Oscar-winning director Asghar Farhadi talks with the director who has phenomenal skills in filmmaking.
In a poll conducted in 2004, Mehrjouee was named the best director for creating the most enduring cinematic characters in Iranian cinema. The titular character of ‘Hamoun’ in his film is considered the most memorable character in the history of Iranian cinema.
Mehrjouee has been repeatedly selected as one of the top filmmakers in the history of Iranian cinema, including in the first poll of Film Magazine in 1988. He became the first among Iranian directors in the 2009 vote for Film Magazine.
His film credits include popular titles such as ‘Leila’, ‘Hamoun’, ‘Tenants’, ‘Mom's Guest’, ‘Sarah’, ‘Pari’, ‘Cow’, ‘Santouri’. These movies are just part of the prolific career of this prominent Iranian filmmaker.
