Many healthcare workers in Iran have observed the Nowruz, an ancient festival that marks the arrival of spring and the Persian New Year, at work, helping patients.

Healthcare workers are on the frontlines in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, which enters its second year.

Still, they did not lose hope and celebrated the Persian New Year, gathering around the Haft Seen table and praying while waiting for the exact moment of the spring equinox on Saturday.

Iranians mark Nowruz by setting the Haft Seen, a table with seven symbolic items starting with the Persian /s/ sound, including Sabzeh (freshly grown greens), Samanu (a sweet pudding made from germinated wheat), Senjed (a dried fruit), Seeb (apple), Seer (garlic), Somaq (sumac), and Serkeh (vinegar).
