ifilm English Website presents Iranian Maiden’s Fortress from Sassanid era.

In rebellion against Ardavan V (the last King of Arsacid Empire), Ardeshir I of the Sassanid dynasty built a castle on the heights of Firouzabad near the Iranian city of Shiraz.

Like an eagle nest, the Maiden’s Fortress (in Persian Qal'e Dokhtar) is built on a high bluff in a mountainous pleated that has an amazingly green landscape.

Outer walls of the castle function as forts and it contains long halls, arches, stairways and recessed windows.

The fortress has the oldest standing dome in the world.
