‘The Snow Calls’ wins award at USA fest

Iran’s ‘The Snow Calls’ wins award at the USA Film Festival.

Award-winning Iranian short documentary ‘The Snow Calls’ has been honored at the 51st Annual USA Film Festival.

The US event, held on April 21-25, gave its Jury Prize for a Non-Fiction film to Marjan Khosravi’s 15-minute doc.

‘The Snow Calls’ is about an expectant mother named Mina who has one last chance to deliver a boy after bearing three daughters, otherwise her husband will marry another woman.

Fearing the result and the gossip that would ensue, Mina decides not to have an ultrasound scan.

She is already under enough pressure from her in-laws, although she does still have people on her side too.

The film has already participated in a number of global events and succeeded to grab awards, including the best documentary award at the 18th Big Sky Documentary Film Festival in the US.

The USA Film Festival is an annual non-profit event held in Dallas. It aims to give room to films and video arts to be screened and recognized.
