UAE’s first robotic police officer stands at attention near a military cannon in Dubai that fires to mark iftar (breaking fast) time during the holy month of Ramadan in the Arab country.
In many Muslim countries, everyday during the holy month of Ramadan, reports of a shot from a cannon mark the time of iftar.
According to a recent media report, the robot joining the Dubai police squad was present at one of such ceremony in which a single shot was fired on Thursday.
The newly-recruited robocop to be deployed mainly at Dubai’s touristic spots, is equipped with a camera.
“Our aim is to raise the number of robots to 25 percent of the police force by 2030,” said Brigadier Khaled al-Razzooqi, head of Smart Services at Dubai police.
Excited tourists and passersby snapped selfie photos by the robotic police officer.
