Iranian series ‘The Tenth Night’ has been scheduled to be on the ifilm channel’s upcoming playlist.
Airing of the series, produced by Hassan Beshkufeh and directed by Hassan Fathi, is to be started on September 24, 2017.
‘The Tenth Night’ narrates the story of Heidar, who loses a bet, which means he had to steal some items from a mansion belonging to a princess of the previous Qajar dynasty that has been overthrown by the new ruler, Reza Pahlavi.
When Heidar meets the princess, he falls for her and pops the question. To avoid marrying him, the princess sets a condition she is sure he will not meet. She tells Heidar that he has to organize and perform in a 10-night passion play banned by the Pahlavi regime. It's called Ta'zieh, and it's the story of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions, which is played during the month of Muharram. Heidar decides to play Russian roulette by accepting the challenge, which lands him in more trouble than he may be able to handle.
He launches the passion play and everything goes well until the ninth night, while on the 10th night something unexpected happens.
Among the cast list are Sorayya Qasemi, Atash Taqipour, Roya Teimourian, Mahmoud Pakniyyat, Parviz Fallahpour, Parviz Pourhosseini, Hossein Yari, Katayoun Riyahi, Akram Mohammadi.
‘The Tenth Night’, produced in 2000, is to replace the series ‘The Children are Watching’, to be broadcast at 22:00 GMT (02:30 Tehran time).
ifilm English will also repeat each episode of the series the following day at 04:00, 10:00 and 16:00. ‘The Tenth Night’ is comprised of 14 segments.
