Haj Kazem Pahlavan, a reputable merchant in Tehran’s rice bazaar, is all about supporting domestic production, and trades nothing but Iranian rice. This puts him at odds with his disgruntled son, Naser, who thinks making a profit is the only thing that matters. In the meantime, his daughter, Maryam, a passionate young journalist, is conducting her own investigation into the expired and contaminated foreign rice flooding the market. To her surprise, all the clues lead to her own brother, Naser. What ensues is a power struggle between good and evil, in a story of love, sacrifice, and redemption.
